Your First Lesson

Recommended Horse Riding Attire

Below is a list of recommended attire for horseback riding if you have lessons often:

- ASTM/SEI certified equestrian helmet: Your helmet should fit snugly, covering your forehead and the back of your head. It should have a chin strap that is tightened securely.

- Riding boots: Proper English or Western riding boots should have a low heel and cover the ankle to keep them from slipping out of stirrups.

-Breeches, riding pants, or tights

- Half-chaps or full boots: This protective gear provides additional grip and protection for the rider's calf and ankle. Half chaps are usually cheaper, comfortable, and great for kids.

- Riding gloves: Gloves provide extra grip, protect the rider's hands from rubbing on the reins, and can help prevent blisters.
